Day 1: First 30 Minutes Checklist
When you first awaken as a Stormforged survivor in The Meadows of Sorana, the weather is deceptive. Gentle breezes and sunlit hills mask the fact that an atmospheric tempest will form within two in-game days. Your primary objective is securing food, tools, and a secure shelter before twilight.
Step 1: Scavenge the Basics
- • Pick up loose Birch Branches and Flint Stones along riverbeds.
- • Forage wild Meadow Berries to maintain your stamina regeneration.
- • Punch wild fiber bushes to harvest 15x plant fibers.
Step 2: Craft Initial Gear
- • Craft a Flint Axe (chopping logs) and Flint Pickaxe (mining stone).
- • Craft a Flint Shortsword for defending against scavenger boars.
- • Place down a Primitive Workbench under natural rock overhangs.
Constructing Your First Storm Shelter
In Stormforge, shelter engineering is a life-or-death discipline. Building a flat square shack out of weak thatch in the middle of an open plain is an invitation to disaster when a tornado paths through.
Essential Base Placement Rules:
- Build Against Natural Cliff Faces: Positioning your back wall against a solid granite mountain ridge shields you from 50% of incoming wind turbulence.
- Avoid Narrow River Gorges: Wind funneling through ravines amplifies vortex wind speeds by up to 30%.
- Use Stone Foundations Early: Even if your upper walls are wooden timber, anchoring them to stone foundation blocks drastically increases the building's tolerance against tornado suction.
Crafting & Mastering the Wind Glider
As soon as you construct your Primitive Workbench, prioritize crafting the Canvas Wind Glider (6x Lightweight Birch, 8x Woven Linen, 4x Leather Thongs).

- Double-Tap Jump to Deploy: Jumping from any elevated hill and double-tapping your spacebar/jump button deploys the glider wings.
- Catching Thermal Updrafts: Look for glowing teal swirling air rings rising from ravines. Passing through them launches your character 30 meters higher into the air and replenishes your glider stamina.
Surviving Your First Hunting Tornado
When an Arcane Squall (Tier 2 storm) arrives, you will receive a 2-minute visual and audio warning:
- The Sky Color Transitions: Twilight blues shift into vibrant, menacing violet and molten orange clouds.
- Sound of Rotational Rumbling: A low-frequency mechanical roar indicates that a tornado vortex is touching down nearby.
- Equip Your Shield or Crouch: If caught out in the open, crouch behind granite boulders or raise a Tower Shield to prevent wind suction from tossing you into rocks.
- Watch for Flying Debris: Uprooted trees and boulders deal massive blunt damage if they strike you. Keep your camera angled toward the funnel.
The Core Loop: Bunker Down vs Attack the Core
Every storm poses a fundamental strategic choice:
Option A: Defensive Bunker
Retreat to your reinforced shelter. Equip your Builder Mallet and actively repair vibrating wall joints. Wait for the storm to blow itself out (typically 4-6 minutes). Safe, but yields zero bonus crafting loot.
Option B: Assault the Core Crystal
Arm your bows, summon your co-op allies, and deploy gliders directly toward the eye of the storm. Shattering the floating Core Crystal instantly ends the tempest and showers the landscape with legendary Storm Cores!
Transitioning to the Deepwood Biome
Once you have crafted full copper armor and a composite bow, it is time to venture south into The Deepwood Forest. The trees here are gargantuan, and toxic spore clouds pool in the low hollows.
- Always carry at least 3x Herbal Cleansing Poultices to remove poison afflictions.
- Establish high-elevation canopy outposts in giant hollow trees to escape ground packs of Blight Wolves.
- Locate the stone ruins at the forest center to trigger the summoning ritual for the Squallreaver.
Top 10 Essential Survival Rules
The sky transitions from twilight cyan to deep purple/orange 2 minutes prior to a hunting tornado forming. Listen for distant rotational rumblings.
You can deploy your glider right as an updraft passes you to launch high into the sky, safely soaring above ground predators and bypassing treacherous ravines.
Every major storm has an epicenter containing a floating crystal. Striking it with ranged arrows or spells shatters the vortex, immediately clearing the weather and showering the area with rare crafting loot.
Tall wooden towers without stone foundations will collapse when a tornado cuts the base. Build wide stone foundations with diagonal reinforcement struts.
